One of my favorite stories to tell is about the time my brother-in-law's girlfriend got her black belt in karate...
She had her big flashy test...kicked the bag...sparred other girls (and a couple of guys that looked like girls!) with the foam booties and gloves on...did her kata with the appropriate "snap" in her movements...very nice.

I walked right up into the middle of the gaggling girls, singled her out and flat out asked her, "Tell me the truth...If a 225 pound man attacked and tried to rape and kill you, can you 100%, honestly say that you would know what to do? Could you save your own life?"
There was a deathly quiet pause as every single girl in the room visualized that horrible situation in their own minds. Then came the same answer I've heard from every single women martial artist I've ever met in my life who doesn't train with us...
"Ummm...I guess not."

During an attack your mind will be racing and you won't be thinking clearing about what kind of rapist you are dealing with and what approach to take, but what all experts agree on is that a "properly trained" woman who fights back early DOUBLES their chance of escape...AGAINST ANY SIZE OR STRENGTH ATTACKER.
The Department of Justice reported that 93,934 women were forcibly raped in 2005 (They're still calculating '06)...These numbers are completely unacceptable as women can and should know how to defend themselves.

Residential real estate has become incredibly efficient because of the MLS system. The MLS is essentially a highly detailed, highly specific database for local real estate. And unlike a search engine like Google or Yahoo whereby a typical search yields so-so results, some good, some bad, many not relevant, the MLS system allows for extremely targeted searches with only relevant results. A real estate agent searching for Scottsdale, Arizona properties with 4 to 5 bedrooms, priced between $700,000 and $800,000, with a 3 car garage, less than 15 years old, with no pool, will be able to retrieve a list of all such properties within seconds of entering the search criteria. There is no driving around looking for signs, no looking up ownership information at the court house, no cold calling, no mailing, no thumbing through books of information, and no sorting through irrelevant or unfiltered results. The MLS system is remarkable and has made buying and selling properties extremely efficient, whether it is a large market like Los Angeles, California, or a smaller market like Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In today's Internet age, some would compare not being on the MLS to running a web-based business that was invisible to the search engines. No-one ever pretends that setting up a successful home
exchange is easy. To the contrary, if you don't live in
one of the more sought after locations, it can be a
challenge. But a challenge is not an impossibility, quite
the opposite, a challenge if viewed positively can be
enormous fun!
There are a few points to remember which will often make the
task a great deal easier:
1. Use your favorite word processing program to carefully set
up a generic email that you can copy and paste into the

allow you to send out multiple home exchange inquiries with
very little effort on your part.
2. Every city/town/neighborhood has its attractions. Make
sure you include all the positive features about yours. If
your list is small, take a trip to your visitor's bureau and
ask for brochures, pamphlets, etc. If there is no visitor's
bureau, drop in on a local motel or hotel, all of them have
a display in their lobby containing all sorts of local
promotions.
3. Don't limit your contacts to members who list your corner
of the world as their desired home swap destination. Pay
more attention to age group and family size compatibility
and send your attractively worded contact email to everyone
living in the area you are hoping to visit. Members may have
never thought of vacationing in your town, but that doesn't
mean they won't consider it.
4. Pay particular attention to members who list their home
exchange destination as "open to offers". You will need to
sort the listings under that criteria when you are searching
for "who wants to come to me?" otherwise you will miss them,
but they are the true gems among your home swapping
opportunities. Very often they are long standing,
experienced home exchangers who have exhausted their lists
of preferred destinations. Now they are simply waiting to see
what new offer piques their interest and if you take the
trouble to send out attractive, well thought out opening
contacts, it could be yours!
5. You will make your home swap offer much more attractive
if you include the family car as part of the deal. Car
